Hi Walt,

Perhaps my previous E-mail and yours crossed paths. I subsequently referenced whether or not the requirements of 2106 were in effect. I concur with your other comments as well.

As usual, good to hear from you!

Regards,

Sandy

Not so fast, Sandy. The 2009 edition of 10 CFR 19.13(b) states that annual reports must only be issued to the monitored worker if the worker's dose exceeds 100 mrem or if the worker requests it. The requirement is similar for termination dose reports - see 10 CFR 19.13(d)- they must only be provided upon request. I read the rules to mean that the licensee must still issue annual and termination reports, but only has to provide them under the specified criteria.

As we all know, most workers immediately file their dose reports in the nearest waste bin, so the change makes sense.

Some, but not all Agreement States have adopted this rule change, so as always, an employer needs to know the rules they are subject to, in order to maintain compliance.

Doug,

10CFR19.13(b) pertains to any worker monitored at the site during the annual period, regardless of their current status. If you provided dosimetry during the year, you are obligated to provide the individual with their dose record.

Sandy

Hello RadSafers. I am curious how folks out there are interpreting the
subject regulation. Specifically, does it apply to former workers or
only active workers?

Thanks for any feedback.
