Steven,

You should know that I appreciate your comments, but in this case I think that you are wrong. I interpret the message you refer to as a way of ridiculing these ridiculous attempts by putting them into the context of a time hundreds of years ago. Some of the recent ("modern") recipies for living healthy, remind me on recipies of hundreds of years ago. 

I am a (radio)chemist, interested not only in history but also in history of science..
