I don't envision using this system to replace our current personnel dosimetry. My thought is to use it to re-start our environmental dosimetry program, and to have a small number of environmental dosimeters that could be placed in the field ad hoc during incident response. We wouldn't be using them to assign radiation dose to an individual ...

Jim,
I believe CDC has purchased such a system. Sometime ago, the Landauer Reps had a meeting with our OHS folks I attended the meeting. It seemed as though the CDC was going to purchase one or two readers and around 100 OSD's. I can look up the information if you like.
Personally, I feel that this is superior technology and worth considering. An owner of such a system would have to have an approved QA checks and balances procedure and could be used as a permanent legal record afterwords.
Regards,
John

Subject: [ RadSafe ] Landauer MicroStar OSL reader
Colleagues --
Does anyone have any operational experience with the Landauer MicroStar Optically-Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) dosimeter reader that they'd like to share? Please feel free to respond privately, unless you think your response would be beneficial to the group.
The proposed application is environmental / emergency dosimetry.
Thanks in advance for your help!
