[ RadSafe ] Best technique to detect DU in huge area!!!

If it were not for Saddam Hussein's propaganda, still continuing through
those in Iraq who wish the US or the new Iraqi government harm, there would
be little concern with finding and removing the DU. Saddam's propaganda
planted the idea that DU caused birth defects (does anyone on this list have
a copy of the Siegwart Horst-Gunther book that is the original source of
many of the grotesque photos?) and cancers. Shills for those who wish the
US harm like Christopher Busby continue to beat the world wide drum with the
latest claims that DU in Fallujah has caused so many birth defects that
women are afraid to have children. All it takes is to find a willing TV
reporter and camera person and show them these apparently pathetic little
children and throw in a few claims about hundreds more that died and have
been buried (no verification, just take these people at their word). There
is one major problem with making that claim for Fallujah; DU was never used
in Fallujah - there were no tank battles there in 2003 and the Sunni
insurgent/Al Quaeda/foreign fighters who had to be dug out hole by hole,
house by house, block by block in the two battles of 2004 had no tanks. DU
is only good for killing tanks - it is not effective against any other
target and according to a Marine tank crewman who served four tours in Iraq,
including the battles in Fallujah, he never had DU ammunition in his tank
let alone fired it. The US DoD, though, could do a lot towards putting
these stories to rest by revealing where DU was used and when. It would
also be good to show that DU penetrators are no longer stocked in Iraq or
Kuwait. DoD, though, does not even tell the VA about where DU was used or
whether it is still stocked in theater. As a result, the VA even hedges its
bets on DU use in Afghanistan (where all reasonable evidence points to no DU
use at all, just like Fallujah).

I just finished scanning in pages of the book by Anne Gut and Bruno Vitale
put out by the Campaign Against Depleted Uranium (now the International
Coalition to Ban Uranium Weapons). This book lies from the title onwards -
Depleted Uranium, Deadly, Dangerous and Indiscriminate, the Full Picture -
DU is deadly only to targeted tanks and their crews, not particularly
dangerous and certainly not indiscriminate. The book is also not the full
picture since it gives more weight to Christopher Busby's pseudoscience to
Otto Raabe's science. The original book is also on line in French only at
this Swiss humanitarian organization Centrale Sanitaire Suisse (Romande)

I think Mr. Cherry misunderstood my message. I still think that DOD is the
best authority to handle DU contamination. It would be really very helpful
if some technical insights by people who worked in Health Physics and were
part of the DOD. I think Dr. Abu-jarad should be given all the help that
the elite and senior HPS could provide who possess such specific knowledge.
Cheers and happy thanksgiving holiday.

I suggest that Saddam Hussein "caused it in the first place" when he invaded
Kuwait.

May you enjoy the freedoms and security the DOD is protecting and providing
for you during your stay at the Catholic University of America, Mr. Haleem.

means and resources for such work. If I was you I would seek their help and
guidance. Best of luck.
