[ RadSafe ] Airport Whole Body Scanner Risks

Just a brief question:

Is (are) the manufacturers of these devices (low energy photon and
millimeter wave) within the US? I have read that these devices have been
manufactured and inspected outside of the US. Regulations governing the
manufacture and use of devices like these are also different. How would
the manufacturing country of origin affect all of this?
