Egypt postpones nuclear bid
2011-01-17
Egypt postponed Monday (January 17th) the tender for its first nuclear station
for two weeks, Al Masry Al Youm reported. Energy Minister Hassan Younis
announced the delay at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi.
The tender was scheduled for last month, but the government will now accept bids
at the end of this month. The offers will be evaluated over a period of six
months, the minister said.
Work on the reactors should move at a more rapid pace, said Hisham Ali, former
head of the Atomic Energy Authority.
