Yes, that form is correct, is even better without the particle "un" which corresponds to "a", so "pórtico de detección para vehículos", or "detector de pórtico para vehículos".
I should add here that, as in english, there are different spanish expression for the same things in Spain - spanish or American - spanish. May be you should check if the american-spanish expression is the same. I could check tomorrow in my job what the IAEA says, as they always look for a international expression.
You are welcome.

Juan Carlos, would you then say that for "vehicle portal monitor" it would be correct to use "un pórtico de detección para vehículos?" Thank you so much!

Dear Armin,
The first one is not correct, for "portal monitor" you can use "detector de pórtico" but you can also use the correct form "pórtico de detección", usually "pórtico de detección de radiaciones".
For the second one, although "detector de mano" can be understood, I think the term "detector manual" is more correct.
Best Regards
Juan Carlos

Dear Spanish-speaking Radsafe colleagues,
Can anyone offer a translation for the words "portal monitor" and "handheld detector?"
I don't want to trust this to Google Translate which returns: "portal del monitor" and "detector de mano"
I would like to know the exact words radiation professionals use.
Thank you so much in advance!
Armin Ansari
