Public information has the plant(s) shutdown. That should obviate need
for borates.
There are nicer borates than boric acid, with both larger fractions of
boron and not so corrosive. Potassium tetraborate.
I never worked a BWR to learn their particular casualty procedures.
Some PWR that I was qualified to operate allowed boiling as part of the
LOCA casualty procedures (removes heat and lowers pressure allowing
volume replacement).
