Back in the 1960's I did some research of the literature to find if  
breathing radon was good for humans. Also, in the late 1960's as an employee of  
the US Atomic Energy Commission I studied the conditions in  several working 
uranium mines in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and in Canada.  If any radon 
health effects showed up later among the miners were the result  of 5-10 year 
exposures at radon concentrations from 30 500 pCi/L. In  the case of radon 
spas or so-called radon mines people spent perhaps a few hours  per year so 
one  should not expect any detrimental health effects. The  probable reason 
given by a European  scientist in a two volume book is that  the visitors to 
those spas feel better after a few therapy treatments is  the inhalation of 
negative ions produced by radon and radon decay alpha  radiation. I do not 
recall the name of the book's author but it was  available in the 1960's. I 
recall that the author speculated that the  visitors to the spas experienced 
the same feeling after a thunder storm passes  by and leaves the air 
invigorating as a result of the abundance of negative air  ions created by 
lightning.  
 
I just wanted to remind people this subject came up more than 48 years ago  
when I started my career as a Radon Ranger.

people you are taking too.  Indeed, you have already lost so  much face that 
most people on radsafe are embarrassed to be seen conversing  with you, as 
they are concerned that your incorrect behavior will reflect  badly on them.  
They are mindful of the saying, "don't wrestle with a  pig; you will get 
dirty, and the pig will enjoy it more than you will".   

If you are interested in knowing more about radiation, radsafe is a  fairly 
good place to learn, but you first must learn to be  polite.
