For those with a strong drive (perceived need?) to gratify their egos,
there is no such thing as PETTY ego gratification. That is especially
true when such folk have no other viable way of gratifying their egos.
I am a bit puzzled by your closing question. Reality that has existed and
continues to exist at this moment is certainly a possible thing.
