Hi Karen:
I am hardly an expert, but there is a significant distribution of 'hot
particles' in the exclusion zone.
But onto other issues: For the wet-deposition material, Cs & Sr have a very
high selectivity for adsorption sites onto clays and especially decaying
organic matter with a high cation-exchange capacity (CEC). The soils in the
forest form a thick organic humus zone, which traps the Cs-137 & Sr-90.
