Cynthia Jones Appointed the Nuclear Safety Attaché at the U.S. Mission at the IAEA

Cynthia G. Jones, PhD, Senior Technical Advisor for Nuclear Security at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), has been appointed as the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) new Nuclear Safety Attaché at the U.S. Mission to International Organizations in Vienna, Austria. She succeeds Mr. Mark Shaffer, who was selected as the Office of International Programs Deputy Office Director, effective 1 July. The Nuclear Safety Attaché serves as the U.S. Mission's expert on nuclear safety issues and programs and provides programmatic and policy oversight of the IAEA's safety program on behalf of the United States.

Dr. Jones will transition into this position this summer and will assume the position formally in September.

Is there anyone on the list who provides input to IAEA in developing the INES scale?  This latest claim of the Fukushima is the end of the world as we know it crowd might be amusing to them.  Coast to Coast AM is a widely broadcast radio program that is on the air in San Francisco on KKSF-AM 910 (http://www.coasttocoastam.com/stations has a map of station locations )
