The EML laboratory part of DOE closed down about 5-6 years ago and had
become part of Homeland Security. There is no radiochemistry or radiation
physics departments any longer. Also there are no Radon chamber facilities
where I did my radon related research for more than 30 years. The number of
employees is down to 30 people from the more than 100 that worked in the 1980s
and 1990s.
The reality is that radiation research and radiation safety and innovation
is in a sorry state.

Hope you all are well. What the heck is all this babbling
about????!!!! There is a whole
Environmental Safety and Health Division/Department at Brookhaven Lab. and
associated
radiation/health physics programs. See their website.

A National Lab out on Long Island with 3000 workers and many acres of
land without
some sort of radiation lab/counting facility??? What planet are you
people from????
Please tell me EML in New York City has not really closed...

I can't answer the question as I don't know. I know the EML Lab closed
years ago. I will check further.

Thanks Jim for clarifying that. Do you know where the standards/records
are
as I am not aware of that at all? We do know that we received a few
standards from EML that was closed 5 years ago or so.

To expand on my previous answer; the radiochemistry section closed about
5
years ago. In fact, WEAC received several standards from the lab at that
time. The facility is still home to several other DOE activities such as
the RAP team.

Hi Brian
Can you tell me if the radiological laboratory in Brookhaven L.I., NY
still
operational? I am under the impression that it closed down a few years
ago.
Thanks
