Dear Radsafe et al.:
 
     There are books on the Earth's magnetic field and  the Earth's core.
An introductory geophysics book is by Frank Stacey.  Books on Earth  Core, 
Earth Orientation/
Rotation and so on are:  Munk and MacDonald, Lambeck I and Lambeck  II.
 
     Stacey book also has a chapter on use of  radioisotopes in geophysics 
(dating etc.)
