Dear Dr Bob Cherry,
Thank you very much for sending me the old issues of the HPS Newsletter. I received the attachments intact. Judge Kelley's vivid analysis of the issues is eternally useful for every one in the field. What you sent was exactly the reference I was looking for.
Within a few years of joining the profession as a radiation protection specialist, I had some interaction with Dr K Z Morgan. He was very prompt in replying to queries; he sent several reprints during the late sixties.
I am yet to study the material you sent. While working in the University of Virginia Medical Centre at Charlottesville, I responded to John Gofman's observations on the effects of x-rays. My article was published in The Daily Progress, a leading daily from Virginia. My efforts to challenge the great man led to some honorable reference in a news story in the newsletter of the Radiological Society of North America in 1981!
Once again thanking you for your prompt response,
With warm regards,
Parthasarathy

Dear Dr Bob Cherry,
Thank you for the prompt response.
I am not a Member of the Health Physics Society. I do not have the privileged access to the HPS News Letter. I have read some of the articles in the Newsletter while I worked in the University of Virgina Medical Centre, Charlottesville as a Research Associate a few years ago.
Can you help me to locate the details of the litigation? Let me explain the context in which I need the material urgently.
You may recall that in India " nuclear power" is currently a hot topic. A nuclear engineer who later became "anti nuclear" quotes chapter and verse in his tirade against nuclear power. He uses cherry picked quotations from books of Gofman as gospel truth. Believe it or not, he filled 46 out of the 132 pages of a book he wrote with Gofman's quotations! Unfortunately, the book is published and distributed by a very popular agency which promotes science at grass root level. I am planning to write a review of the anti nuclear booklet in some of the leading newspapers in India
With warm regards
Parthasarathy

If you are a member of the Health Physics Society, Dr. Dade Moeller
summarized the judge's criticism in a Newsletter article. Search on the HPS
website. Old newsletters are posted there. You should be able to find the
article without too much trouble.

Dear Radsafers,
You may recall that Prof John W Gofman an eminent scientist became an ardent
critic of nuclear power. During the latter half of his career he used to
appear before judges as expert on harmful effects of ionizing radiation.
In one such case, a level headed judge made some scathing comments on the
biased and irrational approach of Prof Gofman I am not sure whether the
judge expressed himself strongly against Dr Arthur R Tamplin, a close
associate of Dr Gofman.
If any of you recall the episode, I shall greatly appreciate receiving
details of it at the earliest.
With best regards
Parthasarathy
