The source strength depends on the age of the source.  Typically they around 50Curie when new, and kept until about 10-18 Curies until replaced.  The news article states that it is in lead, but it is actually in DU.

Fairly low key press release and not much coverage for the theft of a 192Ir gamma projector in Lancashire UK.
They say it is a small amount of material , but the pictures are of a GSA Sentinal 880 Delta which is normally used for >50 Curie sources. Apparently it was stolen out of a v an in a residential area.
