[ RadSafe ] DNA Switches

Dear Radsafe,
 
     Hope you all are well.  Get better soon,  Franz!!!
 
     If a group of scientists/workers can turn the DNA  switches for Down's 
Syndrome On and Off, then perhaps these talented individuals  can also do 
this for many other diseases.  Get to Work???!!!!
 
    For some diseases, there may not be just on/off  switches, but other 
associated switches --- when to turn on the disease after  onset of turnon 
conditions, offset switches, rate/ramp switches, acceleration  switches and so 
on.  Generation skipping etc.???
 
    For a young person starting his/her University Studies,  courses in 
genetics, mathematics, physics (especially fluid dynamics!!!!),  systems 
engineering etc. might be real important to take.  Genetics/Genome  work seems to 
be a hot field right now.
