Yes, Mohan, I agree and wanted to write a similar note to Otto. Best,
Ludwig

Dear Otto,
Your publication pre-dates the Ozasa 2012 update to the atomic bomb
survivor data, which shows a deviation from linearity of dose-response curve
(significant curvature - see Table 7 of Ozasa 2012) likely due to lower than
expected cancer rates in the 0.3-0.7 Gy region (please see text on p. 238 of
the Ozasa et al paper). There are also other data that show reduction in
cancers following low-dose radiation exposures, as seen in:
http://evidence-for-threshold-or-hormesis.blogspot.com/ I did not notice
the inclusion of the concept of such adaptive protection in your 2011
publication. For example, the paper states in part: " In fact, the increase
in cancer among the atomic bomb survivors tended to follow a linear pattern.
Deterministic cancer promotion rather than stochastic cancer induction
better explains the increase of solid cancers in the atomic bomb survivor
studies. " The atomic bomb survivor data do not follow a linear pattern of
dose-response any longer. I w
ould suggest revising your analysis to include adaptive protection to bring
it in line with the latest atomic bomb survivor and other data that show
reduction of cancers at low doses.
   With best regards,
                                              Mohan

The low dose issue is completely explained in my Health Physics Journal
Forum paper:

"Toward Improved Ionizing Radiation Safety Standards"
Health Phys. 101: 84-93; 2011

E-mail me if you want a copy.
