Good point Joe.  Fortunately, unlike Nuclear Power, solar power is very scalable and lends itself to distributed generation, i.e. locations like roof tops,  and otherwise unable inner city brown fields.  The community college in my town has a large field of east to west tracking solar panels  that is raised up enough so that they're above ground level, and at least once a year they have sheep in the field to eat down the annual growth.
