That is not nearly the dumbest thing I've ever seen someone do, but then the competition is quite fierce. This is an example of when one should not only ask, "What's the worst that can happen?", but also "What's the best that can happen?"
On the other hand, it once again shows that GoPro is a robust recording system that can be operated hands free. Anyone who has to do investigations of any kind should probably look into getting several to record their work. The argument "We don't want video in case we do something wrong" is one that should be looked at carefully, because if you are assuming you will do things wrong, you have bigger issues.
