Some wags say that the "Physicians for Social Responsibility" are actually "Physicians for Moral Irresponsibility".
I think some of them were behind a resolution introduced at the Washington State Medical Association annual meeting several years ago to call for shutting down a coal-fired power plant in the Centralia-Chehalis area (in Cascade Mountain foothills - yes, there is coal in Washington State, relatively low grade but the basis for the small town name "Black Diamond"). The rationale was that some chemicals were in the smoke, including CO2. I happened to be a delegate at that meeting and presented the reference committee with Art Robinson's Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons (JPANDS) article about CO2. The reference committee recommended a "No" vote. After noting that "the dose makes the poison," the assembly (legislative body) voted it down as well. Moral: a little resistance can make a difference.
Yes, this Seattle City council member is an explicit socialist. More importantly, she seems to lack common sense, as do many other socialists.
I don't live in (and wouldn't live in) Seattle but do feel socialist tremors from the city.

Guess Seattle wants to live in the dark - the Council member who introduced this is a "Socialist" and strong Bernie Sanders Supporter - she has Twitter page -

Seattle City Council unanimously voted Tuesday (6/1) to replace the city’s nuclear power with wind and solar.
by Christina MacPherson
The measure was sponsored by council member Kshama Sawant, who claims the unanimous vote means the city is “taking a stand against nuclear energy.” Sawant was supported by activists from the state’s chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility and other environmental groups.
These activists allege that Columbia Generating Station, the reactor Seattle gets power from, is unsafe and vulnerable to earthquakes. The Daily Caller , 2 June 16
