[ RadSafe ] Canadians - Radioactive ranchers? Elements found downwind of intensive fracking.

I love the Canadian sensibilities: 'Nielle's husband, Howard, a large man who loves nothing more than tending to his cattle, said the whole experience has disheartened him: ''I have no faith in government. I'm totally disgruntled.''' I cannot imagine a rancher in the US describing himself as "disgruntled".

I have no problem believing the fracking operations are releasing things into the environment, as that is cheaper than running a clean operation. I don't doubt that uranium is one of the things being released. I do find it kind of sad that the reporter doesn't know that all strontium isn't radioactive.

This is a news article instead of the Nuclear News source. I expect that this is NORM that may have come up from the ground due to fracking, but also that the hype added by Nuclear News is not really true. Do any of you Canadians on the list know anything about the testing laboratory -

The special test, analyzed at the London Health Sciences Centre in Ontario, showed that the ranchers had ''high'' levels of uranium and strontium above the lab's ''reference range'' in their urine, probably due to exposure from soil, water or air.

I also wonder if the ground in this area of Alberta already has high levels of Uranium, etc.

Thanks.

After losing an unprecedented number of cattle in 2013, Nielle and Howard Hawkwood tested soil where the cattle had urinated and found high levels of radioactive materials. Not even seeds would germinate in the soil.
