Employees Admitted to Medical Clinic After Exposure to Radioactive Fumes at Hanford Nuclear Facility

According to media sources on Wednesday, 4 May, six workers at the Hanford Nuclear Facility in Washington State, were admitted medical facilities for exposure to radioactive fumes. This latest incident brings the total number of employees evaluated for exposure to these fumes to 26 since 28 April. The Hanford site is on the Columbia River in East Washington where it stores 56 million gallons of radioactive chemicals, two thirds of which is radioactive waste stored in tanks built between the 1940s and 1970s. In-country personnel are advised to stay away from the Hanford Nuclear Facility, monitor local media for updates and heed any instructions given by authorities.
