2nd Hanford Applied ALARA Workshop

Practical Applications of ALARA

May 22-24, 2000

Shilo Inn, Richland, Washington

Sponsored by:
U.S. Department of Energy, Richland Operations Office and Project Hanford
Management Contractors

This conference will include presentations and workshops that provide
lessons learned on tools, equipment and material used to accomplish
radioactive work.  Individuals interested in leading a workshop are
encouraged to submit proposals. Product vendors are welcome, limited space
will be available for demonstrations. All presentations and workshop
sessions will be offered multiple times to give attendees the option of
attending all the presentations and workshops.

Presentations and workshops will be held May 22 and 24. A bus tour of
selected DOE Hanford sites will be available May 23.

Registration fee is $50.00 per person. Government room rates are available
at the Shilo Inn, Richland Washington.  AAHP/ABHP and NRRPT credits for
continuing education have been requested.

Abstracts/Workshop Proposals are requested in the following areas:

		Tooling/Support Equipment			Work
Evolution
		Work Planning					Post Work
		Waste Minimization

Abstracts are due by February 29, 2000, selected presenters will be notified
in March, and full papers are due April 30, 2000.

Abstracts of papers should be submitted, electronically or on a 3.5" IBM
formatted diskette, with a hard copy attached.   Abstracts should be brief
(no longer than 500 words). You will be notified by early March of your
acceptance. 

The decision to accept or reject an abstract will be based upon inclusion of
the following items.

*	Purpose and title: Is the purpose clearly stated and are the issues
current?  
*	Is the title descriptive of the abstract?
*	Application:  Is there a direct application?
*	Appropriateness of material for presentation.

Remember the focus of the conference is applied ALARA and the tools,
equipment, materials and work practices used to save dose, limit
contamination spread, and minimize waste.

All abstracts will be printed directly from your diskette or electronic
files.  When typing your abstract, be sure that the heading and text are
exactly the same as the hard copies you will be supplying, use an IBM 3.5"
formatted diskette with either Word or WordPerfect file, and label the
diskette with the first author's last name and the title of the abstract.
