HP Position Open at UC-San Diego



Dear Radsafers,

The University of California, San Diego (UCSD), has a health physicist
position open. Responsibilities for this position include conducting
day-to-day, operational aspects of the radiation safety program and
developing and implementing special programs.
Position Requirements: Candidates must demonstrate the ability to develop
and implement elements of a radiation safety program, possess in-depth
knowledge of regulations applicable to the control and use of radioactive
materials, shipping and receiving of radioactive materials, internal and
external dosimetry, contamination control and radiation shielding.
Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to conduct detailed laboratory
audits on radioisotope and machine use, apply radioisotope
measurement/analysis techniques, and evaluate radiation spills and
situations requiring first aid or evacuation while minimizing personal
exposure and contamination.

Preferred Candidate Qualifications: A degree in Radiological Health Physics
or related field, at least three years of experience in radiation safety or
similar field, computer skills to write technical reports, critiques and
memos, effective interpersonal skills to communicate honestly and
effectively.
The salary range for this position is $46,100-$57,600/year. UCSD is an
