Sorry, everybody.  The book is titled "Hitler's Uranium Club", by Jeremy
Bernstein, published by the American Institute of Physics Press, 1996.  For
credentials, it states that Bernstein is both a staff writer for The New
Yorker and a Professor of Physics.

I shouldn't trust my memory when I am away from my bookshelves.
