To countries following the recommendations of the IAEA Basic Safety
Standards, Safety Series 115, 1996, irradiated gemstones is not a justified
practice:
2.22 (b) - page 22 - frivolous use of radiation or radioactive substances in
commodities or products such as toys and personal jewellery or adornments.
