Re: PET QC

My apologies, folks

The posting below may have been a little misleading. For one thing, NEMA's
standard #NU1-1994 recommends protocols for the acceptance testing of new
cameras, not the routine QA/QC of such systems. Then, on perusing the
article in the JNM, which does address the latter issues, I find myself
wondering how much of it is readily translatable to use with a dedicated
PET scanner. This is what I get for going off half-cocked. Next time, I shall
maintain radio silence, refrain from mixing metaphors, and let my betters
answer the question.

>I shall take it that by "PET instrument" you mean a scanner. For PET,
specifically, I don't, right off. But the National Electrical
Manufacturer's Association (NEMA) publishes standards for nuc med cameras.
It's their #NU1-1994 - Performance Measurements of Scintillation Cameras.
All sorts of people contributed to its writing, e.g., physicists, docs, nuc
med techs; it's very much aimed at the needs of the endusers. There is a
synoptical essay, in the current J Nucl Med (Vol 41, #2, Feb 2000), on it.
You also might try calling one of the major vendors. ADAC Labs is at:
