Looking for information on different ways sites are meeting the requirements of 10CFR20.1601 and 10CFR835.502 (c) for entry into Very High Radiation Areas.
In addition to the ones for High Radiation Areas, "additional measures shall be implemented to ensure individuals are not able to gain ... very high radiation areas". What are some of the additional measures being used?
NOTE: Our first method for entry control into High and Very High Radiation Areas is a mechanical lock. Most areas at our site that fall into this are crane rooms to process cells. We have a crane room to a process cell that has a busted shield door ½ way open. It opens from the top down, so we can stay behind it for most of the repair work, but we are open to a very high radiation area.
