Food irradiation does nothing to eliminate bacterial toxins that would
remain if spoiled food was irradiated. Irradiation kills trace amounts of
bacteria, etc. which then stops them and their toxins from exponential
growth. You would certainly know if it happened the other way around.
That is, if large amounts of bacteria were killed by irradiation. The toxins
left behind would make one quite ill.
