According to the U.S. Dept. of Treansportation 1984 Report on
Highway Safety Improvements Programs, they were saving 119 deaths per year
by upgrading guard rails at a cost of $101,000 per life saved, 39 lives
per year by median barriers and median strips at a cost of $170,000 per
life saved, etc, etc. If anyone wants more
examples of saving lives for less than $1 Million per life saved, please
feel free to ask me.
