Rick,

You ought to get into a conversation with him about Al Gore's book, Earth in
the Balance.  Then during the convesation get into a discussion about
Kerala, India.  In the book, Kerala is held up as an example of how good
life can be in a third world country.  Kerala is a darling of the left-wing
foundation and literary set, because life is so good there.  Then you might
mention the natural background radiation levels there.
