POSITION: MEDICAL/HEALTH PHYSICIST
LOCATION: Catholic Medical Centers, Brooklyn/Queens Region
Jamaica (Queens), New York
An immediate opening exists for a qualified individual to provide medical
physics and radiation safety services to diagnostic radiology and nuclear
medicine in the Brooklyn/Queens Region, Catholic Medical Centers. Four
primary-care hospitals and several outpatient clinics comprise this division
of the soon-to-be-merged St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Centers of New York.
The current equipment inventory consists of approximately 125 x-ray tubes,
including 7 mammographic, 5 CT, 5 angio/cath, and 32 dental units, plus one
MRI. Each hospital provides nuclear medicine services; one provides
radiation therapy utilizing its own physicist.
The successful candidate will join the director of the Medical Physics/
Radiation Safety Office in providing and/or overseeing performance and
acceptance tests of imaging equipment, radiation safety surveys, shielding
design and in-service training, patient dose evaluations, licensing and
regulatory compliance services, and personnel dosimetry.
Qualifications: M.S. in physics or medical/health physics with at least
five years experience in x-ray equipment testing and radiation safety
services. Preference will be given to ABR/ABMP/ABHP diplomates, with MQSA
physicist credentials. Familiarity with New York City regulations
desirable.
