Killer Trees

President Reagan, who I opposed when he was Presiden as well as when he was
Governor of California, never called them "killer trees".  He said that
trees polluted.  He was right, they emit hydrocarbons and can introduce
errors in hydrocarbon pollution measurement.  About a year ago "Science
Newsletter" had a brief article confirming the truth of his statement.  The
phrase "killer trees" came from folk making fun of his comment about trees
causing pollution.  I had to change my mind about President Reagan after the
Berlin Wall came down.
