Most Germans Want to Abandon Nuclear Power for Ever, Poll Finds

Berlin, April 28 (Bloomberg) -- A majority of Germans, or 60 percent,
want the government to shut down the country's 19 nuclear power
stations for ever, an Emnid research institute poll for television
station N-TV showed. Two-thirds of around 1,000 Germans polled said
they want the government and utilities to agree the closure. Thirty
percent said the government should legislate to force utilities
including Veba AG and RWE AG to close the power stations if agreement
can't be reached.

The government has said it expects to reach an accord with power
companies on a timetable for phasing out nuclear power before
parliament's summer recess in July.
