Damage to cells identified with infra red light??

Dear Colleagues

A recent popular science article in the UK (New Scientist
magazine) carried an article describing the identification of radiation
damage in cells using a high intensity focussed infra red beam.
the scientists involved were at Lawrence Berkeley Labs and the
work was apparently presented by a Dr Michael Martin at a
meeting of the American Physical Society in Minneapolis -
probably in late March. The authors attracted attention (publicity)
by claiming that their work could lead to changes in safety
regulations for nuclear power workers.

Does anyone have any more information on this - or a contact for
Dr Michael Martin?

Many thanks

Monty Charles
