Re: How much plutonium?????

May 8, 2000
Davis, CA

The idea that one pound (half a kilogram) of plutonium can kill everyone on
earth is an old chestnut from Helen Caldecott, which she borrowed from John
Goffman. With respect to Pu-239, it is just wrong, as Prof. Cohen has
clearly explained.

A related important issue is how it would be possible to expose everyone on
earth. It is like saying that there is enough water in the Great Lakes to
drown everyone on earth, all you have to do is put two liters in everyone's
lungs. So, do the activists propose draining the Great Lakes because of
this horrible risk?
