Re: Waste Disposal Cost
Mr. Poston,
The cost of radwaste disposal can vary considerably depending on the
isotope(s), activity, chemical and physical nature of the "trash" (all
paper & plastic or containing glass and metals), and the final resting place
to which it is consigned (Envirocare, Barnwell, etc.). Access and transport
fees can add considerably to the cost.
If your waste contains only short-lived isotopes, some waste
brokers/processors are licensed for decay-in-storage, which is usually
considerably cheaper. I suggest that you contact a radioactive waste broker
and discuss the options in more detail. If you want the names of some
brokers that may serve your area, please contact me directly by email.
