Questions on Radiology Boards

Dear Fellow Radsafers:

I am helping some of our Radiology residents study for the upcoming boards.
Looking at some questions from previous exams (including last year's) has
raised a few interesting questions. In particular, I notice repeated
references to NCRP 91 recommendations, even though I understand these have
been superseded by NCRP 116. In addition, it appears as though some other
answers are based on numbers from old reports (i.e. average dose for some
medical procedures, some RBE values). I am wondering if anyone on Radsafe
is familiar with how this examination is written, how frequently the
questions are reviewed for accuracy, and how apparent errors may be
corrected before showing up in future exams.

Thanks!

Andy

Mathematics may be compared to a mill of exquisite workmanship which grinds
you stuff of any degree of fineness; but, nevertheless, what you get out
depends on what you put in; and as the grandest mill in the world will not
extract wheat-flour from peascods, so pages of formulae will not get a
definite result out of loose data. (T.H. Huxley, 1869)
