manrem versus effluent release data - data is exemplary

Thank you Patricia for providing the distinction between what Oyster
Creek released as compared to their manrem numbers. Oyster Creek had
a lot of problems in the late '70s and early '80s. A lot of
maintenance work ensured, including re-design of many plant systems
and areas. As in all maintenance activities, the manrem totals for
the plant increased, as was the case with many other plants around
the country. Mush has been accomplished over the past decade. In the
end, the Capacity Factor for all US reactors is significantly up,
Forced Outages are significantly lower, if non-existent, at the same
time manrem totals are already below the 2005 INPO Goals, effluents
are being reduced at lower levels, radwaste generation and shipments
are reduced, etc.

If one looks at the US power reactor statistics, one sees an
exemplary program, worked by an excellent manpower resource, all done
during the age of downsizing. many should be commended, from the
utilities themselves, the workers and even the regulators.
