Re: The Tooth Fairy project

Lew,
UNPLUG Salem supports the re-hiring and/or retraining of any displaced workers. A
large workforce would be needed to decommission the plants anyway. Salem 1 and 2
were off-line for almost 3 years, and no one's TV shut off because of it. In
general, we support a phasing out of nuclear power, not an shutdown of every
plant tomorrow.
It is my understanding that blackouts occur mostly (oi here come the flames)
because of lack of tranmission capacity, not lack of energy to transmit. And, a
large workforce would be needed to build up solar, wind, and other
green/alternative sources of energy. I don't worry too much about stockholders,
only because anyone who buys stock knows there's a risk involved, but I do care
about workers, sick, and elderly.
So lets keep this civil, OK?
