I forget the exact wording of the original posting, however, it is possible that
the intake was comprised of a different, more soluble, uranium compound. I'm
not familiar with the Metropolis facility, however, uranium can be converted
from one compound to another with not much effort. With the right combination
of heat, H2, HF and/or F2, at least a half dozen different uranium compounds can
be produced (of various solubilities/lung classes). The Metropolis facility
probably has such capabilities.
