Check with your Regional EPA office.  Excellent source of information.  You
may want to request statistics for radon levels in your area (you may be
surprised).  They also have direct links to find out about radon "testers"
and to contact the EPA individual responsible for the Radon Program in your
state.  They use to have a list of companies approved by EPA for radon
testing.  Not sure on the status of that (I don't think they approve them
any more). They will provide you with some good pamphlets/guides free of
charge. I found them extremely helpful and informative.

web site, use "Subject Index", and then "R".
