OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY RADIATION CENTER
POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
HEALTH PHYSICIST


The Radiation Center has an opening for a Health Physicist at the rank of
faculty research assistant.
The position is a twelve-month, fixed-term appointment subject to  renewal
at the discretion of the
director, and involves supervisory and operational work in applied radiation
protection, including
radiation surveys, radioactive material shipping, instrument calibration,
radiological effluent
monitoring, and personnel monitoring associated with teaching and research
applications of ionizing
radiation.  The position also involves routine instruction of students in
the above topics.

Applicants must have a B.S. or B.A. degree in radiation health physics or a
closely related field.
Applicants must also possess the ability to perform routine radiation
protection instruction, be able
to carry out work assignments in compliance with state and federal
regulatory requirements, and
participate in physical activities such as movement of lead and concrete
bricks shielding materials
which weigh in excess of 50 lbs.  In addition, preference will be given to
individuals with experience
in radiation protection.  Salary range for the position will be $34,000 to
$40,000 commensurate with
qualifications.
