Re: Power Plant Pollution Linked to 30,000 Premature Deaths

Yay, Neil. Good on ya

Sounds like the truth, and it is.

Ask anyone who is in Emergency planning, all the briefings on how to 'deal
with the press' stress one thing; "expect to be misquoted". The press
looks for the 15 second sound byte that will give them a headline. They go
for sensation and blood. They play to the lowest denominator. We were
told NOT to get technical or use words that a third grader wouldn't
understand. You can't even explain how a nuclear plant works without going
to at least the 6th grade level.

Every network and wire service has its own agenda. Sell the news and screw
the facts. If a refinery blows up, well, that might make the ten o-clock
news. It happens to often, people don't care and the oil industry pays us
too much to make them look bad. If a nuclear facility has ANY problem
well, that's NEWS! Stop the presses! Call the governor! HOW COULD THIS
HAPPEN!!!!!

Ok, sorry, I'm better now.

"Just another rant"

Phil

"My opinions, not the State's"

Sounds cynical, and it is.
Sounds critical and it is.
Sounds like an axiom and it is.

The media deal with death, destruction, and chaos period. Not interested
in
constructive, creative activities, concepts, or precepts. These things
would
put them out of business. It's the only hat they have to wear:
Destruction.
