POSITION: RADIATION SAFETY SPECIALIST, RADIATION SAFETY SECTION
The Division of Environmental Health and Safety is seeking a full-time
academic professional to assume duties as soon as possible after the search
closing date. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
FUNCTION
Under the administrative direction of the Assistant Director, Division of
Environmental Health and Safety, Radiation Safety Section, assist with the
management of a radiation safety program and provide professional-level
services related to that program.
DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION
As directed, plan, organize, develop, and implement radiation safety
program elements; formulate recommendations for Radiation Safety Section
policies and procedures; maintain liaison with local, state, and federal
regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with applicable radiation safety
codes, standards, or regulations; assist with the assessment of priorities,
budgetary needs, goals, vision, and strategic plans for the Radiation
Safety Section; participate in the 24-hour emergency response program.
QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree in a relevant field of science, engineering, or technology,
or a bachelor's degree with substantial course work in the above fields and
relevant experience in radiation safety. Ability to communicate
effectively orally and in writing and to work as a member of a health and
safety team are required. The position requires the use of computer word
processing and database applications; ability to write programs for
commercial database applications is desirable.
