Looking for identification of the nuclide that is part of a device
labeled "IONOTRON - US RADIUM CORP." The item is a metal strap
about six feet long and on one side is what appears to be a metal
banding (electroplated??) affixed to the strap which is
radioactive. The strap has uniform radiation levels down it's
length of about 30.0 mr/hr at a few centimeters away as measure
with an ion chamber.
My first thought was some form of electrostatic device used in a
paper mill to eliminating static charges on large rolls of paper
(or something like that)
Sorry no pictures. Any ideas on what isotope? Did the US Radium
Corp. make things out of isotopes other than radium?
Please respond to me directly.
Thanks,
William A. Lorenzen
