	Description: Assistant Director, Environmental Health and
Safety/Radiation Safety Officer (RSO). The University of Missouri-Columbia's
Department of Environmental Health and Safety is seeking an Assistant
Director/RSO to manage the University's Radiation Safety program. The RSO
has broad management responsibilities including: administration of an NRC
Broad Scope Type A medical license; liaison with regulatory agencies;
overseeing 200 authorized users and a wide variety of medical uses
(including veterinary); monitoring for safety and compliance; training; and
managing radioactive waste. The RSO supervises a full-time staff of eight.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in health physics or
closely related field, five years experience in a university radiation
safety program or equivalent, at least two years of supervisory experience.
The qualified candidate must also meet the training and experience
requirements specified by the NRC for a RSO. Desired qualifications include
an advance educational degree and certification as a CHP. The RSO is
expected to have excellent communication skills, to work as a team leader
with the campus Environmental Health and Safety program, and to facilitate
the activities of the campus Radiation Safety Committee and the campus
Environmental Health and Safety program. Screening of candidates will begin
