RSO Position
Hello colleagues.
Integrated Environmental Management, Inc. has a client in the Ohio area that
is seeking a Radiation Safety Officer. The position is currently full-time,
but a part-time arrangement might be considered. Minimum qualifications
include the following:
A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent); Hands-on use of radioactive material
(particularly fission products); and Course work and/or experience with the
following: Principles and practices of radiation protection; Radioactivity
measurements, monitoring techniques, and the use of instruments; Mathematics
and calculations basic to the use and measurement of radioactivity;
Biological effects of radiation applicable to the types and forms of
radioactive material and radiation-producing machines present at the facility
(i.e., fission products and sealed sources); Safety practices applicable to
protection from the radiation, chemical toxicity, and other properties of the
radioactive materials in use at the facility; Conducting radiological surveys
and evaluating results; Evaluating research plans and activities for proper
operations from a radiological safety standpoint; and Familiarity with
applicable ODH, USEPA, and OSHA regulations, as well as the terms and
conditions of any licenses and permits issued to the facility by these
agencies.
