The Medical Health Physics Section of the Health Physics

Mike Grissom has asked me to forward this posting.
--------

radsafe'rs and medphys'ers,

Paul Rohwer, President of the Health Physics Society, during
his President-Elect visits to HPS Chapters around the country
last year, showed numbers indicating more than 500 HPs, MPs
and other medical professionals were estimated to be involved
in radiation protection activities, such as being a medical RSO
on an NRC materials license.

Of that number, however, only about 200 are presently subscribed
to the Medical Health Physics Section's (MHPS) list server! I
have appended the instructions for subscribing to the MHPS list
server below and encourage you to pass this information on to
other colleagues who are functioning in the medical radiation
protection arena who are not on radsafe or medphys.

Now, as we are receiving the dues notices from the national HPS,
is an ideal time for those practicing in the medical radiation
protection arena to 'pony up' the $5 section membership and join
the MHPS! By joining, you become eligible to vote in MHPS elections
and to run for office, which I strongly encourage all medical
radiation protection practioners to do!

Please note, though, that anyone can join the MHPS list server
and provide contributions to the MHPS electronic newsletter,
MEDHPE, which is presently edited by Andy Karam, RSO, University
of Rochester, New York.

I look forward to many more colleagues joining us for the coming
year!
